Parent involvement fosters a greater sense of community for all in our Preschool. This involvement can take the form of immediate classroom support, preschool-wide contributions, or helping lead engagement and outreach with other partners in the Old Town community.
Parents are invited to volunteer in a variety of ways within the Preschool. Parents may assist teachers by chaperoning walking field trips, organizing classroom parties, providing snacks for special events, contributing “loose parts” for class projects, and serving as substitute teachers.
Parents also are invited to take advantage of preschool-wide opportunities such as playground clean-up and landscaping, contributing food for special events and potluck meals, serving as a Parent Ambassador to prospective preschool families, or helping to drive fundraising efforts.
We also publish a yearbook commemorating each class and the many events, achievements, and joyful activities from each school year. Parents may take and gather photos for their respective classroom(s) or assist in designing and compiling the final yearbook.
WSUMCP’s Parents’ Committee is intended to provide every parent of a child enrolled in the preschool an opportunity to leverage their own interests, expertise, and network to contribute to the development of the educational resources, environment, and family community of the preschool. The committee serves as the main source of communication and coordination of these opportunities allowing parents to volunteer or contribute in whatever capacity they wish.
The Parents’ Committee provides a central coordinating and facilitating body for the various preschool activities (e.g. Book Fair, Spring2ACTion, Yearbook) with the goal of consistently expanding the participation and impact of these activities while also establishing a foundation for future ideas and events.
An annual parent social is another highlight for the preschool community, giving adults one night with no children to focus on the friendships and fellowship amongst our preschool parents.
