Laura grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina, and has lived in Alexandria for the past 34 years. She began her career in Washington, DC, working on Capitol Hill and moved to the American Wind Energy Association as director of membership services. After having two daughters, she wanted to be closer to home with a schedule that gave her more flexibility to be with her children. She taught preschool at Beverley Hills Church Preschool for six years where she found great joy encouraging the curiosity of young children. Laura then took a break from teaching to have more time for both her daughters as they grew up.
In 2021, Laura joined the Washington Street Church Preschool staff as director. She is happy to be back in a preschool supporting the growth and development of young children in a community of families who value a small preschool environment that fosters a love for learning.
