Suzi West was born and raised on the South Side of Chicago, moving to Arlington, where she still resides, just prior to starting high school. Her Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish with a business minor is from Frostburg State University and her Master's Degree in Educational Leadership is from American College of Education. Suzi taught Spanish for 9 years at a private school in Loudoun County prior to joining Arlington Public Schools as a Supervisor of Extended Day at Arlington Science Focus School and then at Claremont Immersion School. She also worked in preschool classrooms with APS for two years. After leaving the school system to pursue life as a self-employed caregiver to both humans and animals, she is excited to be landing as a Frogs teacher at WSUMCP. After having been the Science Seed Teacher for the 24-25 school year, she knows she will love being a permanent member of the community.
In her free time, Suzi travels as much as possible. She hasn't been everywhere, but it's on her list! Her travel goal is to visit every Spanish speaking country on the planet-she's about a third of the way to her goal. When not traveling, or making plans to travel, she enjoys her yoga community, spending time with her two tween nieces, and her newest hobby: candle making.
Suzi believes that all children should feel safe, supported, and accepted. She is looking forward to being a partner in education with WSUMCP and their families.
